Owen Richard Kindig is a writer and filmmaker living in Sitka, Alaska. His corporate and institutional clients have included Nestle, Owens Illinois, McGraw-Hill, Digital Equipment Corporation, URS, and numerous universities, museums, and human service agencies.
Owen traveled to China for the American Institute of Physics to produce a motivational video on the occasion of the opening of AIP’s first international office, in Beijing. He also produced their 75th anniversary celebration video, 75 Years that Matter. Owen served as the creative lead on national rollout media for the Drumstick, Flintstones Pushups, and Frosty Paws consumer products, and directed an international employee motivational film shot on location in Switzerland, Germany, France, and the U.S. for Nestle Ice Cream.
Owen has directed Hal Holbrook and Michael Eisner in admissions and fundraising productions for Denison University, and Jack Hanna in exhibit films for the Columbus Zoo. Owen has also played a role in marketing Cedarville University, Ohio Wesleyan University, Denison University and the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities during the past 20 years.
In the realm of fundraising, Owen’s emotional and persuasive media presentations have been instrumental in raising over 500 million dollars for Denison, Ohio Wesleyan, AIP, Cedarville, Ohio University, the Life Center for Autism, St. Vincent Family Centers, Goodwill Rehabilitation, Shalom House, the Columbus Jewish Foundation, and many others.
Owen has interviewed corporate leaders Michael Eisner, George Bodenheimer, and Bob McDonald; sports leaders Clark Kellogg, Joe Theismann, and DeMaurice Smith; and has been the director/DP for interviews of celebrities including Jodie Foster, Duncan Jones, Miranda July and Ira Glass.
For the past three years Owen served as the marketing strategist and media producer for the University of Alaska Southeast in Sitka. Now he has opened OK Storyteller LLC, an Alaska-based producer of documentary, educational, and motivational media. As an influencer of emotional engagement, Owen focuses on helping clients identify the heart of their story, and reach the heart of their audience.
Owen is a member of the Silver Telly Council and has won multiple national and local awards including Telly Awards, Communicator Awards, CASE, Admissions Marketing, PRSA and Addy awards. Most recently he won national Gold Communicator Awards for a corporate motivational video for Proctor & Gamble and a Seattle video interview of Jodie Foster.
